Pediatric Headaches & TMJ
Pediatric Care
At Gate City Physio, we understand that children and adolescents aren't just small adults. Their developing bodies require specialized care, especially for migraines, headaches, and TMJ disorders, which can significantly impact their well-being and school performance. Dr. Hillman offers effective, non-invasive treatments tailored to the unique needs of young patients.
These conditions are surprisingly common in children. In fact, research shows that 50% of children experience a headache by age 7, and over 75% by age 15. These aren’t just “growing pains.”
Our treatment approach focuses on identifying the root causes. For headaches and migraines, this often involves addressing poor posture, muscle tension in the neck and shoulders, and stress. Physical therapy includes manual therapy to release muscle tightness, therapeutic exercises to improve posture, and education on pain management. For TMJ, we use gentle techniques to improve jaw mobility, reduce muscle tension, and alleviate pain through specific jaw exercises, soft tissue work, and lifestyle guidance. We believe in a collaborative approach, working closely with parents, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for your child.
